Although the first mention of Count Dracula in the novel of Bram Stoker – “Dracula” (1897), Stoker was not the man who invented this name. The original Dracula lived in the fifteenth century, was not Earl, but the prince was not a vampire (and nor was it ever popular tradition associated with these beings). His name was Vlad Tepes, and Stoker knew nothing about the historical character, but has found a name in the books you study ( “On the principalities of Wallachia and Moldova, 1820), where there was a brief mention of Prince Dracula and fight its against the Turks. What attracted Stoker’s attention was the name of an author’s note which stated that “Dracula” in Romanian means devil and although he intended to appoint the character “Count Wampyr” the name “Dracula” was thought be more appropriate.
Over time, historical character came to be increasingly confused with the literary, though it is not likely that Stoker was Vlad Tepes as a model in creating his hero. Count Dracula was not the first vampire in the history of literature – vampires existed in folklore for hundreds of years, and Stoker used various information about local legends of Transylvania, as the English literature of the nineteenth century.

The character of Dracula was born after passing into eternity of Prince Roman, a hallucination, a picture that has been publicized since 1488, starting with those German horror stories, illustrated with xylographs. Since then, the vampire at such terrible picture of a canvas as spider webbing that Vlad struggles, real historical character. Dragon was more common reason families that have three fangs Bathory family, and Elizabeth, Countess bloody, turned the castle Chetniks, in north-western Hungary, a butcher, killing young girls for use in rejuvenating blood or other magical rituals. He did everything possible for these crimes to be assigned all of Dracula. Hence, and from other elements of folklore, Vlad Tepes Dracula, infigatorul in Tepe, became a famous vampire from Transylvania prince XV century. Exaggeration was due to his cruelty but that belonged to ecclesiastical orders Benedictine, Capuchin and others who refused subordination to the laws of the country. They took refuge in the German lands, where they created horror stories in which “straighten ill” translates as “cruel”. A monk, named James, seems to be the author of the manuscript found in 1462 in the monastery of Saint Galin in Switzerland, the oldest document of the campaign anti-Dracula. The manuscript had a major impact on the German world.

Popular legends have finally restored historical truth. Vlad Tepes brings to us as a living character, just and haloed in glory. Fighting Crusaders against the Turks, led by John Hunyadi, was disbanded after his death in 1456. But in the winter of 1461 provided a challenge to even the Impaler falnicului conqueror of Constantinople, Sultan Mehmed II. Danubian campaigns, which have held up in late summer 1462, they raised a large valve, which brought admiration throughout Europe for tactics and strategy of Vlad Tepes, as well as for his deeds of bravery. Echoes of those battles have been reported from the official documents of the time, but writers both Russia and the Germans have remained silent on it, for reasons easy to understand.

The Truth About Dracula

Vlad Tepes was born in 1431 in Sighisoara. His father, Vlad Dracul, at that time was governor of Transylvania, depending on who was called by Emperor Sigismund. Tepes was a grandson of another great Roman prince: Mircea the Old (1386-1418).
In the winter of 1436-1437, Vlad Dracul became prince of Wallachia and takes up residence in Targoviste, capital of the principality. Impaler has followed his father and lived six years at the princely court. In 1442, for political reasons, Vlad and his younger brother Radu were taken hostage by the Sultan Murad II and remained in Turkey until 1448, 1462 respectively. Released after the assassination of his father by Vladislav II, Vlad Tepes was about death elder brother Mircea, who had been tortured and buried alive by the boyars in Targoviste.
In 17 years, Vlad Tepes, supported by the Turks try to conquer the throne of Wallachia, but another willing, Vladislav II, we win. In 1456, the Impaler make another attempt, this time successful, and now is when he starts his longest (six years) in which he committed many bloody deeds which brought him a controversial reputation. His first major act of revenge was to kill the murderers of his father. Thus, in 1459 he arrested all the boyar families who participated in the assassination – some of them take impalement, while others forced to walk from the capital (Targoviste) to Poenari, where they built a fortress on the ruins of another old outpost above the Arges River. As most noblemen died in these circumstances, the Impaler and has created a new blanket noble.
Vlad Tepes became well known because of his brutal punishment techniques: nelegiuitii were skinned, boiled, decapitated, blinded, hanged, burned, fried, buried alive or impalement – the latter being the method from which the nickname Tepes.
In early 1462, Vlad Tepes has launched a campaign against the Turks along the Danube, succeeding in 1462 only to get wins and I horrified the Turks. To avenge the Sultan Mehmet decided to invade Wallachia, to transform it into Turkish province. He entered Wallachia with an army three times larger than that of the Impaler. Under the circumstances, and without any allies, Vlad was forced to withdraw from Targoviste. Mehmed left the second part of the battle to Vlad’s younger brother Radu, the Turkish favorite Wallachian throne. He pursued the Impaler to Poenari castle, on the banks of the Arges river. According to legend, this is where Vlad’s wife, not to be captured by the Turks, committed suicide by hurling themselves from the rocks. Vlad, in turn, managed to escape using a secret passageway in the mountain. Helped by some peasants, he took refuge in the village Arefu and came here in Transylvania where he met the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus. It instead help him, arrested and imprisoned at Visegrad. Vlad Tepes stayed for twelve years in Hungary, while his brother Radu ruled Wallachia as a puppet of the Turks. After the first four years, Tepes was allowed to move in a house. To win the goodwill of the royal family, he and his sister married the king (other sources). He became a Catholic, which had been her delight Catholic Hungarians.
In 1476 came the Impaler in Wallachia with Moldova and Transylvania. It was third reign lasted only a few months. Vlad was killed on the battlefield, a new battle with the Turks. He was beheaded and his head and was taken to Constantinople, as a proof of his death. Although there is clear evidence, it appears that the body was buried at Tepes Snagov Monastery near Bucharest.
Those wishing to know more about Dracula can visit places of great significance for his life, mentioned in history or in works of fiction: Castle Mountains Birgit, Sighisoara (medieval castle which was the house where he grew Dracula) Castle Bran ruins Poienari (rebuilt by Vlad Dracula), the Royal Palace and the Tower Chindia Tirgoviste (capital of the country during the reign of Vlad Dracul), Snagov Monastery near Bucharest (where he was buried Vlad Dracula), Vlad’s palace ruins in Bucharest (Old Court).

BRAN CASTLE

Located 30 km from Brasov, between the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului, Bran Castle is an important national monument and landmark of tourism in Romania, due to both its beauty, the landscape, and the legend of Count Dracula.
The first documentary attestation of Bran Castle is the act issued on November 19 1377 by Ludovic I D’Anjou town of Brasov the privilege to build the city, the King II subject 13 localities. Management Bran Fortress was lord of a castle who had also jurisdictional attributions permanent garrison was composed of archers and ballisters. Between 1419-1424, the city is in possession of Sigismund, because at the end of the fifteenth century to be under the authority Szeklers Committee, responsible for defense of southern Transylvania, and the time of John Hunyadi to pass under the Principality of Transylvania .
On December 1, 1920 the City Council of Brasov donated the Bran Castle to Queen Marie, as a sign of gratitude for her contribution to the Greater Union of December 1, 1918.
Between 1920 1927, Bran Castle was restored under the Royal Court architect, Carol Liman, you turn into a beautiful summer residence, surrounded by park with promenade alleys, lake, fountains, and halt terraces and built tea house. In 1938, Queen Marie left with will the Bran Castle whole her daughter, Princess Ileana, the mastery of him until 1948.
After expulsion from the country the royal family in 1948, the Bran Castle became the property of the Romanian state, remaining a period abandoned and devastated. Since 1956 the Castle was opened as a museum of history and feudal art. Being in an advanced state of decay, in 1987 the castle comes into restoration, finished work broadly in 1993.

FORTRESS POENARI

The ruins of this city, attributed by tradition Prince Vlad Tepes, the keys are found in Arges. Known as the City Poenari – after the ancient name of the village Poenari – it was probably built in the XIV century, as a refuge. The popular tradition links the name of the legendary ruler of the city building Negru Voda and although yet unidentified, site could be, according to some researchers, Posada and the famous 1330 battle which took place between mountain and armies of King Charles I d’Anjou. Citadel had an elongated, 2-3 meters thick walls and defensive towers 5: four round and one prismatic. Although in the “Chronicle Cantacuzin” says the city was built on the order of Vlad Tepes, it seems that this story is only related to the restoration or expanding them further.
In the second half of the sixteenth century, the city is not mentioned in the documents – perhaps abandoned or destroyed, she slowly fell into ruin. Currently is in restoration. A concrete staircase rising from the foot of the mountain, the road, to ruins, from the heights can be seen Lake Vidraru with its hydroelectric dam and in the distance, and lands Iezerului Fagaras peaks and dolls.

Royal Court (Targoviste)

Princely Court in Targoviste was first mentioned during Michael’s son associated with the reign of Mircea the Old. Sacked and burned by the Turks many times, it was rebuilt and enlarged by the rulers of Vlad Tepes, Petru Cercel, Matei Basarab, Constantin Brancoveanu. The beauty of the building and prospering the city Targoviste could compare great cities of the time, but years of tribulation, wars and fires destroyed most of the building which formed the whole royal court. The monuments remained until today, written documents, and other evidence of past centuries can lead to reconstitute his appearance since then.
Royal house (now ruined) was made up of two buildings, proper construction of the two epochs: the time of Mircea the Old and the time of Peter Earring. Moving the national capital in 1584 in Targoviste Romanian Petru Cercel gave the house a royal palace look bright, with roof tiles enameled in various colors. Fountains and landscaped gardens on terraces on the slope from Ialomita were similar to those found in Europe at that time, the courts ruling and Petru Cercel apartments were full of fast and wealth. In time of Matei Basarab has built a corridor that connected the two bodies of buildings, giving a royal house look even bigger. Constantin Brâncoveanu the royal court almost entirely rebuilt, adding a arbor royal house, overlapped the old building. Princely Church is part of the same set high and was built by Petru Cercel, decorated and painted in command of Constantin Brancoveanu. On the west wall unfolds a real process (the largest and complete, in fact) of princes mountaineers. Deeply embedded within the wall, a shot gun which testifies to Wars necrutatoarelor had to cope Targoviste.
Small royal church, probably built in the XVI century, has largely kept its original appearance. It has ornaments and ceramic discs oldest porch, built along with the church. The building in the churchyard, intended for asylum and hospital, was built by Balasa lady, wife of Constantin Serban Carnu.

Royal Court (BUCHAREST)

Royal Court of Bucharest was built in the fifteenth century, on the order of Vlad Tepessi was rebuilt in the mid XVI century by Mircea Shepherd. This royal residence will become the core of Bucharest in the sixteenth century, focusing her entire life around the capital.
The royal court in Bucharest has raised the battle flag Ottoman Michael the Brave. Burnt by the Turks during the fighting in 1595 – when Mr move residence in Targoviste, where she will return definitively in 1659 – the royal residence will be completely rebuilt by Matei Basarab.
Welcome to seat the Romanian Country, Constantin Brancoveanu give the courts a great shine. Build a royal house, a residence of Mrs, rooms of wall to guard, as the royal bath. Main Gate entrance was provided with a guard tower. Devastation of fire, destroyed by earthquakes, ranging in rank from the Austro-Russo-Turkish war of 1768-1774, it reached the royal residence uninhabitable. Thus, Alexander Ypsilanti is required to build a new royal court in 1775 in Hill Spirii – New Court. After its construction, the buildings of the old courtyard, reached the state of ruin, were known as the Old Court.
Currently, the buildings located on its perimeter (including the famous Tavern’s Inn, built in 1808) were restored, joining the foundation of Mircea Shepherd, preserved today and the church known as “Old Court”. Edifice bears the seal of the reigns of Gregory Ghica, Serban Cantacuzino, Constantin Brancoveanu. Beauty or gateway dates from the time of Stefan Voda Cantacuzino. From ancient paintings (made on request sons Mircea Shepherd and, later, of Serban Cantacuzino) have left only fragments. Currently, the architectural complex is to restore the Old Court.

It is assumed that Vlad the Impaler, son of Vlad Dracul was born in 1431, probably at the Princely Court in Targoviste that most princes mountain, or in Sighisoara while his father was in Transylvania between 1431-1436.(unfortunately the source, however controversial, is in German) is the official name of “Valdislaus I Basarab-Luxembourg, baptized in the holy font of the church” Saint Mary “.
But he used to sign with his father, “Dracula“, as evidenced by the first documentary entry in Bucharest, dated 20 September 1459, and caused his portrait Odhsenbach Stambuch (Stuttgart).
The term is derived from The Romanian Dracula - Dracula - Dracula’s son, his father having the title because of the decoration, received the king of Hungary, depicting a dragon.

Legend

British writer Bram Stoker could easily see the Royal Library in London some of those prints Saxon fifteenth century, which is found in the collections of the British Museum, where Vlad Tepes is described as a monster, a vampire drinking the blood of humans and a devotee of cruelty. He probably had access to the book History of Moldavia and Wallachia of Johann Christian Engel, who it describes as a bloody tyrant Vlad Tepes, which probably gave him the idea to take the prince of Wallachia as a model for his fictional character “Dracula“. Some historians have proposed that Stoker had a relationship of friendship with a Hungarian professor from the University of Budapest, Arminius Vambery (Hermann Vamberger), and it is possible that it be given information about Vlad Tepes. Moreover, the fact that Dr. Abraham Van Helsing mentions his friend Arminius in the novel in 1897 as the source of his knowledge about Vlad III Dracula called, seems to support this hypothesis. It should be noted and that this appears to be only concerned, there is no real link between Vlad Dracula of history (1431-1476) and modern literary myth of the vampire is Bram Stoker’s book. He used the folklore sources, historical references and personal experiences to make a complex character. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that Vlad’s main political detractors – usually Saxons - made use of the word meaning the devil device for shadow prince reputation. So could the combination of the two senses of the word, dragon and devil, to explain a stronger link between Vlad Tepes and her story.

The press and Tv

If not Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula” in 1898, surely Vlad would have remained unknown to those outside Romania.
Although the novel is removed from reality, describing him as Vlad Tepes a mythological character – a vampire, it is because of the reputation it enjoys today and Romanian prince.
The first filming of the novel was made in Germany in 1922, calling the film “Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie des Grauens” (Nosferatu - Symphony horror), taking it to the distribution on the actor Max Schreck.
Name Count Dracula is Count Orlok changed here because the film’s director, FW Murnau was unable to obtain the consent of the author’s time for filming. Names like Nosferatu obviously talking nesuferatu that former Romanian villagers recall Dracula.

Screening of the novel itself (the hero’s name unchanged) is filming in 1931 – Horror’s classic Dracula, taking him into starring Hungarian actor Bela Lugosi home.
Last Screenplay – and more accurate, and best known – is filmed in 1992. The film – “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” is directed by Francis Ford Coppola and distribution has dedicated actors in Hollywood (some of them unknown at the time), from Gary Oldman – Count Dracula, along side Anthony Hopkins – Dr. Van Helsing, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves and Cary Elwes, who later played in “Shadow of the Vampire” (Shadow Vampire), with John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe, a movie about the film version of “Nosferatu“.
Mistic character Dracula is known primarily for punishment by Impalement of beggars, thieves, etc.. Hence the name “(Vlad) Graham.
Are present in Romanian folklore ghost stories, stories with vampires and werewolves stories.

In this episode, Ghost Hunters will join Josh and his team to investigate paranormal activity in the Hoia Baciu woods of Romania. The area is also called as The Bermuda Triangle of Transylvania.

Josh Gates and his Destination Truth team have formerly travelled around the world for two seasons to explore supernatural peculiarities, moving towards their mission to expose the reality behind more mysterious secrets. Local authorities claim that this forest is home to numerous appearances of shadows and momentary beams of light. The most fascinating and shocking thing was the presence of presence of a “crop circle” in the forest, a mysteriously sparse piece of land destitute of the thick vegetation that surrounds it. The cameraman was hardly rescued by team, when he is knocked to the ground in the crop circle by an invisible power. These things have been experienced by the local residents for at least five decades.

This is very interesting reality TV show that has captured the attention of those who are interested in supernatural powers and their presence in the world because human beings are enough to scare each so no need to be scared of theses mysterious things. In the next episode, the team moves towards the Yucatán to explore the secret of the Alux, a pygmy like creature described by Mayan people.

Transylvania includes central Romania, Transylvania and that versantele Carpathian Depression that bowed to it. In Transylvania are 10 counties: Alba, Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Cluj, Covasna, Harghita, Hunedoara, Mures, Salaj and Sibiu.

Transylvania concept is, in terms of geographical and political understanding two distinct first concern, in a restrictive sense, only the intra-region, bounded by the Eastern Carpathians, Southern Carpathians and west of the Western Carpathians (Apuseni Mountains). This macro-regions was called in medieval Transylvania, Transylvania Princely Voivodeship ( “land beyond the forest”), its total area measuring approximately 57,000 kilometers².

The second meaning of the name refers, by extension, also in Maramures, Crisana, Satu-mare, known as Partium held, that “the parties” from Hungary, side by mid-century XVI historic core of the Transylvanian plateau, forming with the Principality of Transylvania.Ie: counties (counties) Maramures, Salaj, Satu Mare, Bihor and Arad. Surface area was even higher Partium. For example, under the Treaty of Speyer (1571), were part of Partium districts (counties) Maramures, Bihor, Zarand, Solnocul the Middle Crisna province (country) Chioarului and districts (counties) Arad and Severin.

Sometimes, Transylvania is given a very broad sense, it designated the Romanian territory west of the eastern Carpathians and north of the Southern Carpathians, thus including the Banat. Fluctuating nature of the contents limit is due to the complex evolution, historical-political, the region of age postromanã to modern times.

The total area of Transylvania, with Banat Crisana, Satmar and Maramures, totaling 100,293 km ², which repreprezinta 42.1% of the total area of Romania. Population living in this area include 7,221,733 inhabitants, a figure which represents about one third of the population of Romania.

Transylvania is the geographically a high plateau, south of the country separated by Romanian Southern Carpathians and east of Moldova in Eastern Carpathians. The western part of Transylvania (Crisan) has borders with Hungary. To the north, is bordered by Ukraine (Transcarpathian region – which includes northern Maramures history – and Ivano-Frankivsk). Plateau heights between 305 and 488 meters is irrigated by the rivers Mures River, tributaries of the Tisa and Olt River, tributary of the Danube. The largest city in the region, according to the census of 2002, Cluj-Napoca (its historic capital, alternative Sibiu and Alba Iulia) followed by Brasov.

At the end of World War I, in the context of the dual monarchy collapsed, Hungary proclaimed its independence, including in its territory and Transylvania. In these circumstances, the leaders of the Romanian National Party and the Social Democratic Party Romanian National Council established in Arad on November 3, 1918. On November 13, 1918, in Belgrade, the Hungarian government signed an armistice with the Entente, setting a demarcation line, which left the control of northern and central Hungary, Transylvania and Banat, under control of Serbia. Under these conditions, the Romanians held on November 18 / December 1, 1918 a National Assembly in Alba Iulia in 1228 designating delegates. The meeting had aprticipat approximately 100,000 people and was conducted in a decent and festive atmosphere. [30] The National Assembly decides the union with Romania Romanian-inhabited territories. After the 1918 union with Romania for a year and half, Transylvania remains autonomous under Roman rule, being managed by a Board Dirigent.

Case Assembly shall be sent King Ferdinand that on December 11/24 sanctioned union with Romania “lands covered by the decision of the National Assembly in Alba Iulia.” However, Romanian authorities do not exercise control over all the territories concerned. Romanian Army had stopped the Mures line and north of this no Dirigent Council nor still less the Kingdom of Romania was not exercised effective authority. Entente Powers ordonasera end any military operations to negotiate peace with Hungary.

Meanwhile, on March 21, 1919 power in Hungary was taken over by communists, who proclaimed the Soviet Republic of Hungary led by Bela Kun, a native of Cluj. Hungarian communist forces attacked the Czechoslovak army and Romanian troops from the territory of Transylvania in hopes of making the junction with the Soviet troops who in turn attacked in Bessarabia and Ukraine. In July 1919 the Romanian army started at the request of the Entente, the offensive against the Hungarian forces, and on August 3, 1919 occupied Budapest, breaking the Soviet regime of Bela Kun. The Romanian army withdrew from Budapest in October 1919. During stationary in Hungary, the Romanian army held several points of distribution of food to starving people, especially in large cities.

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 shall be the border between the Kingdom of Romania and Hungary. Northern border with Czechoslovakia and Poland and the south-west with Yugoslavia is set at August 10, 1920 by the Treaty of Sèvres. The latter treaty was painful for Romania as the Romanian forced abandonment of the historical Maramures and Banat, but the Entente Powers had pushed for its completion as set borders between countries become allies after the First World War. In terms of the Hungarian state, the Treaty of Trianon is considered dictate, as they say, was not taken into account the views and some existential interests of the Hungarian state, Hungary’s borders were established not on ethnic grounds (Wilson plan) but the geopolitical and strategic-economic criteria. As a result, cities and regions Hungarian majority and minority Romanian, Serbian, Slovak was found in neighboring states railway lines and interrupting the flow of goods to and from those cities (Arad, Oradea, Subotica, Košice, Muncaciu, Novi Sad AND . a.). Treaty of Trianon placed 33% of polluting Hungarian Hungary before the war abroad.

Between the two wars, Hungary led a sustained struggle to annul the Treaty of Trianon, which the Hungarians felt a historical injustice. Some historians and politicians claim that Hungarians with Romanian land reform of 1921, which affected vast land ownership in Romania, including the Hungarian property owners, while a while after the war, Hungary’s economy has been crippled by new borders Why split what had previously been forced a single economic space [citation needed]. In the words of the Hungarian head of state between the two world wars, Admiral Miklos Horthy, “an enemy of Hungary is Romania, so that the largest territorial claims are against them.” [Citation needed]

In these circumstances the successor states of the dual monarchy tried to organize alliances able to fight the revision of peace treaties. Of these the most lasting was the Little Entente, the alliance between Romania,Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. However, the system of peace treaties of Versailles was put in danger when Hitler came to power in 1933, it proclaimed that the main objective review of the Versailles Treaty, amid political weakness (appeasement policy) of France and Great Britain before the German National Socialist dictatorship. The Munich Agreement of 1938 which incorporated the Reich and the dissolution of the Czech Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia in 1939 marked the end of the Little Entente.

In 1940, in the context of the rise of Nazi Germany and Romania’s isolation following the collapse of its system of alliances (fall of France and Great Britain isolation), Hungary calls for review after World War frontier. King Charles II and Gigurtu government talks but negotiations have accepted the principle of Turnu Severin in summer 1940 did not lead to any results. Accordingly, foreign ministers of Italy and the Reich, Joachim von Ribbentropp and Galeazzo Ciano summoned in Vienna on August 30, 1940 the foreign ministers of Romania and Hungary, and imposed an agreement that the transition in Hungary constituted a territory of 43,492 square kilometers, with a Romanian population of 1% (as of January 1941 the Hungarian census, 1.5%, or 106,900 Romanian, Hungarian population accounting for 98.5%, or 2,344,000 people) [31], a territory known as behalf of Northern Transylvania (Hungarian Észak-Erdély). The agreement, called in Romanian historiography Vienna Award, and the Hungarian “Second Vienna Award” (the first being that the Hungarian and were surrendered in 1939 territories “Upper Hungary” / Felvidék, that southern Slovakia Today, with a predominantly Hungarian population), provides current territorial Hungary joining Satu Mare, Salaj, Maramures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Harghita, Covasna (mostly), Mures (part), Cluj (the largest part), Brunswick (the north) and part of Arad county. Southern Transylvania (the counties of Brasov, Sibiu, Alba, Hunedoara, parts of the counties of Cluj, Arad and Mures) and Banat (Timis and Caras-Severin county) remained in the composition of the Romanian kingdom.

Case of discontent both states, both Romania and Hungary, which is then desirable to annex the entire region. Submission of Hungarian army in Transylvania was marked by serious atrocities committed against minorities. For example, in northern Transylvania, Hungarian soldiers have committed atrocities and massacres against the Romanian inhabitants of several villages (Moses, Ip Jolted etc.), topping the number of dead at around 1700. Number of torture amounted to thousands.

By Article 19 of the Armistice Convention signed on September 12, 1944 by Romania with the Allies in the Second World War, after the coup led by King Michael of August 23, 1944, shall provide that the allied “agree that Transylvania (or most of them), be returned Romania, provided confirmation of the Treaty of Peace. Soviet state sought to use the postwar period the question of Transylvania in political relations between Romania and Hungary. It is significant that although the Romanian army participated in fighting in northern Transylvania, the Soviet army did not allow recovery Romanian civil authorities in the territory ceded to Vienna until March 6, 1945, in Bucharest on the Communist-dominated government was installed and led Dr. Petru Groza.

In the period between 1945-1947, until the conclusion of peace treaties between the Allies and Romania and Hungary (both have had the status of countries defeated in the Second World War), in Hungary there were steps to keep even a small part the territory acquired in 1940 (being focused on the present county of Satu Mare). However, peace treaties of Paris, in 1947, confirms the return to existing on 1 January 1938 border between Romania and Hungary (the border established by the Treaty of Trianon) and validity of the Vienna Diktat.
