In the history of Romanian cinema, Sergiu Nicolaescu’s name stands for “prolific, highly commercial and professional”.

At the age of 80, the director launched in April his latest production, which is also his second comedy in a long row of action and historic films. “Poker” is a cinema adaptation of Adrian Lustig’s theatre play with the same name, and focuses on four male friends, representatives for the social canvas: a doctor without a moral conscience, an unscrupulous politician, a chief of the local mafia, and a businessman who made a fortune in America. Nicolaescu says the subject is “more contemporary than ever and reflects the political reality perfectly,” even if it had to be delayed due to other director’s projects.

Made by MediaPro Pictures, ‘Poker‘ looks at immorality and intrigues in politics, hinting at the fact that contemporary Romania is a day to day jungle where strings are pulled by those in power, so everything turns into a poker round, where those who have the right aces in their sleeve can win.

Born in April 1930, Sergiu Nicolaescu is a Romanian film director, actor and politician. He is best known for his historical movies, such as Mihai Viteazul (1970, released in English both under the equivalent title Michael the Brave and The Last Crusade), Dacii (1966, Warriors), Razboiul Independentei (1977, War of Independence), as well as for his series of thrillers that take place in the Kingdom of Romania, such as Un comisar acuza (1973, A Police Inspector Calls). He is one of the most popular film directors in Romania. Nicolaescu’s debut as a director was in 1962 with the short film Scoicile nu au vorbit niciodata (Shells Have Never Spoken). His first feature film was the 1966 French-Romanian co-production Dacii (Les Guerriers). Nicolaescu continued his film-making career by directing a large number of movies and also starring in many of his own movies.

Home and Student 2007 gives you access to updated graphics, formatting galleries, and an intuitive user interface that exposes commonly used commands. These features enable you to easily produce high-quality documents that will make you proud. Improved picture, charting, and graphics tools help you produce better-looking documents, spreadsheets, and presentations more quickly, while a large library of standard charts, quick formatting tools, and SmartArt diagrams make it easy to include rich and stunning visuals and charts. The results-oriented user interface makes it easier for you to find and use product features so you can enhance your documents according to your specifications. More stable bullets and numbers, SmartArt diagrams, and graphics and charting galleries provide you with a wealth of other formatting choices. Meanwhile, document themes help ensure a consistent appearance among the documents you create in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to make working across the programs you use most more convenient. PowerPoint also features context-sensitive tabs and easy-to-use galleries that make it simple for you to include tables and other graphics in your documents.

Enhanced Reliability and Security Features
With an improved automatic Document Recovery tool and the new Document Inspector tool for removing personally identifiable information from your documents, Home and Student 2007 helps you work with more confidence and security. Thanks to these two features, you’ll never have to worry about losing documents after a system failure or exposing your personal identification information or unwanted comments to others before sharing your documents.

Formatting galleries make it easier to find and apply formatting changes. View larger.
User-Friendly Operation
Packed with innovative features and improvements, Home and Student 2007 has a streamlined interface and an enhanced Help system, including online tutorials with step-by-step instructions, so you can quickly learn the product and find the answers to your questions. In addition, command tabs on the results-oriented Ribbon reveal commonly used commands that previously appeared only in lengthy drop-down menus. The Help system also offers a smooth transition between the Help menu in the Microsoft Office system and Help on the Internet (when connected). Larger, more informative ScreenTips provide help concerning commands, and the command tabs themselves are context-sensitive, changing automatically depending upon the task that you are trying to complete, so you won’t waste time figuring out the appropriate command. When you need more guidance, online tutorials provide step-by-step instructions for common tasks.

Organize Notes and Information
Home and Student 2007 includes OneNote, a digital notebook that helps you gather, organize, and search many types of information in one place. This means you can consolidate typed text, images, audio and video recordings, digital handwritten notes, Web clippings, and more on the same page. OneNote also provides flexible note-taking tools to help you organize information the way you want. Categorize important projects or information in a way that makes sense to you, using an easy-to-use layout of notebooks, sections, and pages. Type or organize content anywhere on the page and track important items with customizable note tags. To help keep you on track, the powerful Instant Search feature helps you to find information you are looking for quickly. With it you can even search handwritten notes, the text in images and scanned documents, and spoken words in audio recordings.

Preview Changes and Spot Trends
Home and Student 2007 saves you time by making it easier to format your Office documents with Live Preview. This tool lets you quickly preview proposed changes to your document while you’re working on it without having to repeatedly search through layers of menus. Taking a look at your proposed formatting before committing to it lets you experiment without risk and can help minimize future edits. Excel features highly visual conditional formatting with new data bars, more colorful gradients, and icons that you can use to format data based on specific rules, so you can more easily identify key data trends, which can help you study and prepare written papers or reports.

Create and Save Custom Slide Layouts
PowerPoint lets you create presentations with ease using prebuilt and user-defined custom slide layouts. With the custom layout feature you can quickly create the precise layout you envision without being bound by one of the prepackaged, standard layouts. You can then save your custom layout for use in future presentations.

Broader Distribution of Your Documents
Home and Student 2007’s features aren’t limited to the work you do at home; they extend to broader distribution of your documents and presentations. New support for Portable Document Format (PDF) and XML Paper Specification (XPS) file formats helps ensure increased distribution and sharing of your documents with users on any platform. This is particularly ideal for either sharing documents with friends and families, or for presenting information and assignments in a computer-integrated class.

This Showtime stand-up special is the best performance of his career. Filmed in front of a live audience in San Francisco, he starts things off with a bang by comparing SF to another large city in the bay area. Another thing that stands out is that he talks about Utah kidnapping victim Elizabeth Smart, who isn’t usually fodder for comedians. The way that he makes a tragedy funny, without being obscene or disrespectful to the victim is commendable.

Dave does discuss the usual targets such as Michael Jackson and R. Kelly, but does so in a very original way without dehumanizing them like many people would. If you like edgy comedy that’s hardcore without being obscene, and tough talk, but from a really nice guy, then this is for you.

George Denis Patrick Carlin (May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, social critic, actor, and author, who won five Grammy Awards for his comedy albums.

Carlin was noted for his black humor as well as his thoughts on politics, the English language, psychology, religion, and various taboo subjects. Carlin and his “Seven Dirty Words” comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a narrow 5–4 decision by the justices affirmed the government’s power to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves.

The first of his 14 stand-up comedy specials for HBO was filmed in 1977. In the 1990s and 2000s, Carlin’s routines focused on the flaws in modern-day America. He often commented on contemporary political issues in the United States and satirized the excesses of American culture. His final HBO special, It’s Bad for Ya, was filmed less than four months before his death.

Carlin placed second on the Comedy Central cable television network list of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians, ahead of Lenny Bruce and behind Richard Pryor. He was a frequent performer and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three-decade Johnny Carson era, and hosted the first episode of Saturday Night Live.

Season 1, Episode 1: Currahee
Original Air Date—9 September 2001
In 1942, men from across the USA are in Camp Toccoa, Georgia to undergo paratrooper training. For the men of ‘E’ Easy Company the training is particularly difficult as a result of their demanding commander, Captain Herbert Sobel. He drives them incessantly to excel, canceling their weekend passes on a whim. His favorite chore is to have the men undertake a run up a hill known as Currahee. While the men are fit and ready for battle, thanks to Sobel, he has unfortunately shown himself to be a weak tactical commander. Once in England, and knowing they will soon be invading the Continent, the sergeants stage a rebellion. Sobel’s excesses come to an end when Lt. Dick Winters requests a court martial rather than accept punishment for one of Sobel’s lame charges.

Season 1, Episode 2: Day of Days
Original Air Date—9 September 2001
In the very early hours of the D-Day invasion, Easy Company along with thousands of other Allied paratroopers land behind enemy lines in Normandy. In the chaos of the jump however, they are spread far and wide with many landing far from their expected drop zone. Lt. Winters assembles the few men they can find and slowly make their way to their rendezvous point. As the men straggle in, they also must adjust such as when Malarkey meets a German soldier who grew up in Oregon. Easy’s Company commander is still missing so Winters is left in charge and is ordered to take out a German artillery bunker that is wreaking havoc with the troops landing on the beach. They do so with great efficiency and are rewarded with several Bronze and Silver Stars and the Distinguished Service Cross for Winters.

Season 1, Episode 3: Carentan
Original Air Date—16 September 2001
Easy Company’s next objective is to take the town of Carenten where they engage in street to street fighting with a doggedly determined enemy. The fighting is hard and there are many casualties. Having pushed the Germans out, Easy Company now has to hold the position and soon face a counter-attack from German forces, including artillery and tanks. For Pvt. Albert Blythe, the pressure and stress pushes him to the breaking point. He even suffers from hysterical blindness but soon recovers with a few words of encouragement from Winters. After 36 days in battle, Easy Company is finally relieved and get to return to their base in England.

Band of Brothers 4

Season 1, Episode 4: Replacements
Original Air Date—23 September 2001
Easy Company’s stay in England is far too short when they are ordered to participate in operation Market Garden. This major engagement is to thrust north into Holland seizing the bridges along the way with a view to giving the Allies a clear route into Germany. The men of Easy Company are told that they will be leaving for good and they parachute into near Eindhoven, where they get a huge welcome from the war-weary population. With significant losses in Normandy invasion, Easy also has to welcome new recruits who, in the eyes of the now veteran combat soldiers who have survived, as much a liability as a benefit. The battle is not easy with the Germans putting up fierce resistance. The situation is particularly dire for Sgt. Bull Randelman who is separated from the rest of the Company and is forced to hide out in a local barn overnight as the Germans move in. The battle was not a success and did not shorten the war as had been hoped.

Season 1, Episode 5: Crossroads
Original Air Date—30 September 2001
Captain Winters leads Easy Company in an attack on what they thought was a machine gun nest but turns out to 2 Companies of German SS who also have artillery support. The attack is successful in that they virtually wipe out the enemy but they do suffer many casualties. He soon finds himself promoted as the 2nd Battalion’s Executive Officer and while he has concern about leaving Easy Company, he knows they are in good hands with Lt. Moose Heyliger. In the aftermath of the disastrous Operation Market Garden, Easy Company is assigned to assist a large group of British paras who are trapped behind enemy lines. Later, with Christmas approaching, the men suddenly find all passes canceled and they are quickly moved to Bastogne to help defend the city from the German offensive. The company is now led by Lt. Norman Dike, for whom the men have little respect.

Season 1, Episode 6: Bastogne
Original Air Date—7 October 2001
It’s a cold, harsh Christmas 1944 for the men of Easy Company as they try to hold the line around Bastogne against attacking German forces. They have no winter clothing, limited rations and little ammunition. For Eugene Rowe, one of the medics, the problem is getting basic medical supplies. He’s been scrounging what he can, but it simply isn’t enough. He’s managed to get supplies from a pretty French nurse in Bastogne, Renee, but as the casualties mount, he finds himself lacking even the most basic supplies. The men of Easy Company are left on their own much of the time as the Company commander, Lt. Dike, spends most of his in his foxhole.

Original Air Date—14 October 2001
Easy Company is still in the Ardennes forest but the Germans are in retreat. The men are cold and living in foxholes knowing that they will likely be ordered to try and take the town. The Germans have been pushed back to the town of Foy but they are well positioned and have heavy artillery. Their artillery barrages take a heavy toll and several of the veterans of Easy Company are severely wounded including Bill Guarnere and Joe Toye. Those injuries have a particularly heavy impact on their good friend, Lt. Buck Compton. When the attack does come, Easy Company is led by the ineffectual Lt. Dike who makes several tactical errors leading to unnecessary casualties. Capt. Winters, who is observing the battle would like nothing better than to rush into battle to lead his old Company but cannot. In the end, he orders Lt. Speirs to take command of the attack.

Season 1, Episode 8: The Last Patrol
Original Air Date—21 October 2001
It’s February 1945 and a depleted Easy Company is now in Haguenau, France on the Rhine just across from Germany. Pvt. David Webster, who was injured during Operation Market Garden, returns to the Company but finds that his absence from the fighting in Bastogne has alienated the others and he is treated as an outsider. The Company also has a new junior officer, Lt. Henry Jones, a West Point graduate who has yet to get any battlefield experience. The war is clearly coming to an end and the men are starting to think they might just survive the war. When Colonel Cink orders a raid across the river to take prisoners for interrogation, the men are less than keen to take part but follow orders. No one believes it’s worth it when one of the men dies from the wounds he receives. When Col. Cink orders another raid the next night, Capt Winters has his own unique way of dealing with the situation.

Season 1, Episode 9: Why We Fight
Original Air Date—28 October 2001
The men of Easy Company are now in Germany, aware that the Germans are surrendering by the thousands and that the war is winding down. With more time to reflect, some of the men are wondering if it was all worth it and begin to question whether the sacrifices they and their absent colleagues have made were worth it. That question is answered when they come across a concentration camp and they see first hand the atrocities committed by the Nazis. Captain Nixon has returned from a jump behind enemy lines that did not go well and resulted in many deaths. He’s drinking heavily and has been demoted from Regimental to Battalion intelligence officer. Soon after Hiltler’s death, they are ordered to Bertchesgarden, the Nazi leader’s mountain-top retreat.

Season 1, Episode 10: Points
Original Air Date—4 November 2001
It’s May 1945 and Easy Company finds itself the first Allied troops to enter Bertchesgarden, Hitler’s Bavarian retreat. They find the village virtually empty with only a few people working in the hotel. They’re there only a short time when they get the news they’ve been waiting for: the German army surrenders and the war in Europe is over. For those with enough service, it means a trip home while the rest continue to train for an eventual transfer to the war in the Pacific. For others still, tragedy still awaits. The men of the 101st all have varied futures ahead of them. The bonds of brotherhood shaped in battle will remain with them for their lifetimes and beyond.

This is the story of “E” Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division from their initial training starting in 1942 to the end of World War II. They parachuted behind enemy lines in the early hours of D-Day in support of the landings at Utah beach, participated in the liberation of Carentan and again parachuted into action during Operation Market Garden. They also liberated a concentration camp and were the first to enter Hitler’s mountain retreat in Berchtesgarten. A fascinating tale of comradeship that is, in the end, a tale of ordinary men who did extraordinary things.

Having resolved their situation and with an ample supply of breathable air, Dr. Rush turns his attention to their limited power supply. His short temper – not to mention his tantrums – is grating on everyone and Col. Young tries to establish some control over the scientist’s activities. Rush has been working virtually non-stop, leading him to collapse. When the power fails completely the occupants find themselves hurtling into a new solar system. Elsewhere, several of the refugees record messages and some are on the verge of rebellion thinking information is being withheld from them. Eli is forced to help calm them.

Tensions rise as the new arrivals explore the ship. Dr. Rush comes under suspicion with his secretive behavior and attitude. He determines however that the ship is losing air. They find a damaged room that is partly exposed to space but the problem is that the door can only be closed from the inside. Who is prepared to sacrifice their life for the others? Once that problem is solved, Rush determines that the level of carbon dioxide is rising rapidly. The ship comes out of hyperspace however near a planet that will have the materials needed to fix the scrubbers. They are given only 12 hours however to get what they need.

With the ship out of hyper-space for twelve hours, Lt. Scott, Sgt. Spencer, Ian, Dr. Rush and others travel down to the planet to find the minerals necessary for the scrubbers to provide them with breathable air. They find a desert planet that should have what they need but they will have to locate a dried lake bed as it will be the likely source. Scott recalls some of his troubled past. As time winds down, some of the team decide to use the gate to transport themselves to a habitable planet, despite Ian’s advice to the contrary. Chloe Armstrong communicates with her mother to tell her about what’s happened to her father.

As destiny is flying directly into the sun, unable to change it course, the crew decides to abandon ship and attempt to survive on a nearby planet. However the shuttle they need to escape can only hold a fraction of the crew on Destiny. Colonel Young decides to hold a lottery to choose who will go on the shuttle, Scott and Johanson are chosen by Young to lead the evacuation and Young and Rush remove themselves from the lottery. Those left on the ship wait for death, but are surprised to find that instead of being destroyed the ship regains power. Relief last shortly, however, when they realize that the shuttle is unable to meet up with destiny again. All is saved with the quick thinking of Colonel Young.

The water reserves are mysteriously disappearing, in massive amounts, and members of the crew are quick to blame others. When Destiny drops out of FTL the only planet in range is an ice planet with a toxic atmosphere and only two of the space suits are operational. Colonel Young and Luitenenant Scott gate to the planet and start the search for pure ice, using Eli’s new invention, a hover cart. When the Colonel is away, Johansen, who is currently in charge, discovers that the dust aliens Scott found on another planet, followed him to destiny and are using up massive amounts of water. The aliens seem harmless until aggravated by a startled crew member and attack him. Meanwhile, Scott and Young have found pure ice a ways from the gate and have returned for a second load. Johansen has a plan to trap the aliens in an air locked room, but when they do the now angered aliens begin to look for a way out. Back on the planet, while returning to the stargate with another load of ice, lieutenant Scott fall into a crevice, during a tremor, and becomes stuck. With Young attempting to dislodge him and pull him out another tremor causes the crevice to enclose tighter and rupture Scotts suit, slowly causing him to loose consciousness. With time running out Young must decide weather or not to leave Scott behind and get the ice back to Destiny. On Destiny the trapped aliens find a way out of the locked room, so Johansen comes up with a plan to lure them into a container of water and lock them in. Another tremor occurs on the planet and releases Scott to fall farther into the crevice but Young is able to catch him just in time and pull him out, just in time to rush to the gate to see the container of aliens being hurdled out through the Stargate and gate back before destiny goes back into FTL. The ice provide some water but the problem remains, there not enough water to survive.

The Ancient’s communication’s stones are used to allow certain crew members to return to Earth via compos mentis using volunteers on Earth. A risky plan is then hatched that might bring the crew home, and Rush is certain it is doomed to fail.

The travelers aboard the Destiny find a kino recording a visit they have made to a planet. The only problem is that haven’t visited it yet. It seems that at some point in the near future several members of the crew use the gate to travel to a nearby planet but soon after their arrival, some begin to fall sick. Fearing that they may have contracted a communicable disease TJ decides they must remain on the planet or risk spreading the disease to other aboard the ship. They soon learn they are not alone on the planet and come under attack. Aboard the Destiny, Dr. Rush tries to learn just what has happened but when crew members fall ill, as they would have if they had gone to the planet below, TJ finds there is another explanation to the illness they have contracted.

Exploring Destiny the team finds a chair similar to the one found in Antarctica by General Jack O’Neil. Young orders no one to sit in it, the neural interface can be very dangerous. Rush has found an Icarus like planet filled with naquadria in Destiny’s database, only a year away. The news heightens crew moral, evident in the Pshyc evaluations preformed from Johansen. On a trip to the planet Matthew Scott gets a letter from an old friend and when he goes to visit her he discovers that she has an eight year old child that he fathered. Camille goes to the planet to visit her girl friend, an emotional reunion ensues. When Scott returns to Destiny he has a vision of Telford visiting Emily Young, Everett Young’s wife. Young goes to the planet to see Telford with his wife and attempts to attack him but the stones are pulled before he can. It is discovered that Rush has planted the information about the planet, and there is no way to dial home yet. Rush claims that this is because he wanted to boost moral on the ship. In the end Young surprises Telford on the planet and beats him.

When Sgt. Spencer is found shot in his quarters, Lt. Scott conducts a room to room search for any evidence. It looks bad for Col. Young when Scott and Eli find the murder weapon in the Colonel’s room. He asks Chloe to represent him at a hearing that will be held on board. The military members of the crew are prepared to back-up their commanding officer with force if necessary but Young insists they all calm down and let the process continue. Eli manages to find conclusive evidence about what exactly happened to Spencer and who put the gun in Young’s room. Knowing who is behind the deception, Young takes action.
