Ghosts (strigoi) are spirits of the dead  not go beyond. And this ghost that was alive, someone has seriously wrong and should be punished or that were made at the funeral joints.Dead people can become ghosts who are left alone overnight and under it crosses a cat, a mouse or a dog.

Mothers must be careful again because unbaptized children, those who are killed before they are borned or those who do not grow properly can become ghost.They return among the living, especially to a relative, to cause them suffering: bringing death, disease, pestilence, hail. After the place where they occur and caused ill, dead Ghosts may can be water and land, livestock and beehives, rain and fire. Ghosts live a similar life before death, in the sense that it can multiply as people. In order to do so much evil and curse, uncleaned spirits must strengthen, to fortify. Then go and suck the blood of a living man, a relative, usually (signs raptor known by the unfortunate body the next day as a red dot on the skin, headaches and general relaxation, all occurring after a restless sleep). Sometimes they chew victims heart, liver or kidneys. After a while it embodies in the form of people again, but live elsewhere than in previous lives. But if it is given to meet someone or something known, breaks the place forever. Others turn in to a butterfly.

How to spot a Ghost.

Ghosts do not eat any kind of garlic and onions and keep away from the incense. Can be recognized only by those who are born on Saturday. Like any unclean spirits, are afraid of children, because they have a guardian angel pure and strong. Therefore, on Christmas Eve and New Year’s night, when walks to wandering, devils and ghosts run all over  the earth.

Ghosts have a female version as frightening: strigoaicele. In the night they make love with the living and to suck theyr blood. Strigoaicele can appear decent women during the day but that night his wife sleep with weeds surrounding her magic to move then to catch one another, disheveled and naked, to play or to fight the other ghost.

How do we stay away

The ghosts stay away if all things have garlic on them. People eat and grease theyr whole body with garlic or only on the forehead, chest, back and on the wrists. They grease the windows, door and chimney – places where they believe that Ghosts can enter and leave the house.Make noises, ignite fires, take care of the cattle and pastures.

All dishes are face turned down, otherwise ghosts would give power to let inside. All these are more passive defense actions. We open fight evil forces (like the Epiphany, Sângiorz, witches, Sânziene), because we have too much chance of victory: the cold and darkness are on their side until the winter solstice. There are spells we can get rid of ghosts. They must be accompanied by the following ritual: take three threads of basil and a chicken lay an egg in a black on Saturday at sunset and exorcise three times in three days consecutively.

If the ghosts presence becomes obvious (is heard, dreamed, appear certain signs on the grave), they must be buried again.

Vlad Tepes adopted the method, very popular in Middle West, from his good cousin Stephen the Great, the latter being the first to use this terrible agony in the Romanian people.

In terms of vampire, known in Romanian folklore as the strigoi, (name of vampire is seen in Serbian) is noted that the faith is preserved in the villages of Bran on the existence of evil spirits called strigoi. Village elders remembered that until half a century ago it was believed that there were some people in life – strigoi – who went on a normal life, and during the night in sleep, their souls left the band and haunting the village and tortured people in sleep. These evil spirits haunt from midnight until the first singing of the roosters, they no longer had the power to causing bad to people.

Belief in strigoi and other evil spirits is a part of popular mythology. It can be told, imagined by every individual. But beyond this imaginary universe populated with vampires and strigoi, the tourist can meet in Bran reality that will enjoy and relax the soul.
The fierce image of Dracula in mind, came to Bran, the tourist will meet in beautiful places in this mountain area shepherds with herds to grazing or mowing the grass, whose women to war woven textiles adorn the interiors of homes or preparing traditional dishes (Bulzul Shepherd, beat, beat milk, etc..) both in their household as well as hostels for those who say prepared to spend at Bran from sunrise until sunset and even over night when perhaps the dream will come and Dracula vampire whose strength will wither on the clove housewife sitting above the door entrance for the elderly so she knows that the house of evil spirits appear.

Note that many people in Romania near castle Bran still live with fear of the strigoi and have meet at least one person who have the capacity of turning in to a strigoi.

Strigoi are creatures “mythological” of people if subsequently adopted by the Romanian people. Strigoi representation Gauls believed evil spirits of those whose deeds asleep were not worthy of entering the “kingdom of Zamolxis“, but these data were transmitted only orally, legend and lost the original content. Romanian people then transformed into bloodthirsty creatures with the power to take any form and to control the thinking people at this point of view (people under the influence of alcohol, people with mental problems, etc.).
